We see border communities where families are healthy and strong because they control their own healing and wellness systems.
Everyone has access to culturally grounded healthcare and support, along with good jobs, safe neighborhoods, and clean air and water that support wellbeing. When challenges come, our communities are ready with networks of care built by us, for us.
Our mission is to partner with El Paso families and communities most impacted by health disparities, building collective power through grassroots organizing to create equitable solutions that advance health, well-being, and economic mobility for all.
We are rooted in the belief that every person deserves dignity, respect, and the opportunity to thrive. Our work is grounded in love for our communities and service to the families of El Paso. We approach every interaction with deep respect for the wisdom, experiences, and strength that each community member brings. Through authentic relational connections, we build the trust necessary for meaningful community engagement and lasting change.
We operate with unwavering integrity, ensuring our actions align with our words and our promises to the community. Justice guides our decision-making as we confront systems that perpetuate inequality and work to dismantle barriers that prevent families from reaching their full potential. We honor the principle of self-determination, recognizing that communities know best what they need and must lead their own transformation. Equity is not just an aspiration but a practice we embed in every program, policy, and partnership. We celebrate and leverage our bilingual and bicultural strength as assets that enrich our work and reflect the beautiful diversity of El Paso.
We understand that health, well-being, and economic mobility are deeply connected to our environment. We work to ensure that all families have access to safe, healthy spaces where they can flourish. Our approach recognizes the profound connectedness between individuals, families, neighborhoods, and the broader El Paso community, knowing that when we strengthen these bonds, we strengthen our collective power.
Prevention & Wellness: We invest in upstream solutions that address root causes rather than simply responding to crises, promoting holistic wellness that encompasses physical, mental, and economic health.
Strengths-Based: We recognize and build upon the inherent assets, knowledge, and resilience that already exist within our communities, rejecting deficit-based approaches that undermine community confidence.
Social Justice & Systems Change: We tackle structural inequities head-on, working to transform the policies, practices, and power structures that create and maintain disparities.
Collective Power: We believe that sustainable change happens when communities unite, organize, and act together. Individual empowerment is important, but collective action creates lasting transformation.
Innovation: We embrace creative solutions and new approaches while honoring traditional wisdom and community knowledge. We are willing to take calculated risks to achieve breakthrough results.
Responsiveness: We remain agile and adaptive, listening carefully to community needs and adjusting our strategies to meet emerging challenges and opportunities.
Resilience Building: We strengthen the capacity of individuals, families, and communities to not only survive adversity but to transform challenges into opportunities for growth and positive change.
These values and principles are not merely aspirational—they are the lens through which we view our work, make decisions, and measure our impact. They ensure that our organizing efforts, collective actions, and equitable solutions truly serve the mission of helping all El Paso families achieve health, well-being, and economic mobility. In living these values and principles, we honor the trust our communities place in us and advance toward a more just and equitable El Paso for all.
About Lograr Salud Collective
Founded in 2024, Lograr Salud Collective emerged from a powerful convergence of community voices united by a shared vision for health and social equity in El Paso, Texas. Our origins trace back to meaningful conversations among a diverse collective of community organizers, promotoras de salud, and community leaders—all of whom had witnessed firsthand the devastating impact of health disparities on their neighborhoods and families.
From our inception, we have been guided by the lived experiences and wisdom of those most impacted by health disparities. Our founding leaders brought decades of grassroots organizing experience, deep cultural knowledge as promotoras de salud, and the credibility that comes from being embedded within the communities we serve. This foundation ensures that our work remains accountable to community priorities and responsive to real needs rather than imposed solutions.
Our name, "Lograr Salud"—meaning "to achieve health"—reflects our commitment to moving beyond simply treating illness toward actively creating conditions where all El Paso residents can thrive. Since our founding, we have remained steadfast in our belief that true health equity is only possible when communities have agency over their own healing journeys and the structural changes necessary to support lasting wellness.
Our approach is built on the understanding that lasting change comes from within communities, not from outside them. We work alongside community leaders to develop advocacy strategies that reflect their priorities and lived experiences. Through collaborative partnerships with diverse stakeholders who share our values, we create collective power that can tackle complex challenges affecting border families.
At Lograr Salud, we don't just respond to problems - we prevent them by building community capacity, amplifying resident voices, and creating innovative solutions that emerge from the wisdom and assets already present in El Paso's border communities. We measure success not just by services delivered, but by communities empowered to control their own destiny.
